Research and production corporation United Wagon Company and a leasing company UniCredit Leasing have signed a contract for the supply of 50 platforms for timber. The freight cars will operate in the fleet of Luzales, one of the largest logging companies in the Komi Republic.
30 model 13-6895 cars will be delivered to the customer by the end of Q3 2019, with 20 model 13-6852-02 cars to be shipped in H1 2020.
The 13-6895 platform for timber allows to load up to 30–40% more freight (compared with standard models) owing to its increased loading capacity of 72.5 t and loading length of 60 feet, while remaining within a short wheelbase tariff. The 13-6852-02 platform with a loading length of 40 feet and a payload capacity of 74 t allows to load additionally up to 5 m3 of timber with a density of 0.8 t/m3.
Both freight cars are designed so as to significantly reduce the “idle” loading volume and protects freight from being damaged. The builds of the centre sill and side beams facilitate the inspection and maintenance of the platforms. The flooring design facilitates cleaning of the platform and prevents freight residues from falling into the intertrack space.
Both car models are fitted with a 25-tf bogie which ensures a higher reliability of the rolling stock in terms of operation and significantly increasing the overhaul mileage compared with standard models.
Alexander Klyuev, CEO at UniCredit Leasing: “We are looking to develop systematically our partner relations with market leaders and companies that use innovative solutions and new technologies in their business. We will therefore continue developing our partnership with Luzales and the railcar manufacturer UWC and offering modern and high-quality financial solutions to our clients.”
Valentin Rozhok, CEO at Luzales: “Our company is working hard to introduce state-of-the-art equipment andtechnologies into its production processes. Putting this innovative policy into action allows the company to be at the forefront of the industry in the Komi Republic. Without a doubt, the new fleet of UWC platforms will strengthen further our position in the market.”
The 13-6895 and 13-6852-02 platforms were designed at All-Union Research and Development Centre for Transportation Technology (VNICTT) and are manufactured at the facility of TikhvinSpetsMash, a subsidiary of the UWC group.
