The aim is to foster the multimodal logistics services that the Port of Bilbao companies offer to trade between the United Kingdom and Spain via Bilbao, as well as its contribution to the sustainability of the supply chain.
The event will take place on the morning of Thursday, June 11th, at the Royal Liver Building and it will include a presentation, B2B meetings and the opportunity to tour the Port of Liverpool.
Uniport, the association of 150 companies and institutions linked to the Port of Bilbao (Basque Country – Spain), in collaboration with the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce and Peel Ports Group, is coordinating this event.
The delegation is headed by the President of Uniport, F. Jaber Bringas, and the President of the Port of Bilbao Authority, Ivan Jimenez.
The presentation is aimed at shippers, traders, road transport companies, freight forwarders, logistics operators, and professional associations in the Liverpool and Manchester areas.
77% of trade between Spain and the United Kingdom is transported by sea. The Port of Bilbao handles 28% of general cargo between the two countries, making it the main entry and exit point for this type of traffic.
Increasing environmental demands make necessary the use of more efficient and sustainable modes of transport, and promote multimodal alternatives (road + rail + sea) that represent an opportunity for the competitiveness of British companies in the Spanish market and vice versa.
The multimodal logistics offer via Bilbao is adapted to the needs of any exporter or importer, both in terms of cargo type and frequency. Furthermore, it guarantees high reliability, as it operates continuously without depending on seasonality or weekend transit restrictions. Bilbao counts on highly experienced professionals who offer door-to-door maritime services for containerised cargo, breakbulk, solid and liquid bulks or Ro-Ro cargo.
The importance of trade relations between Bilbao and the United Kingdom is particularly underscored by the frequency of maritime services, with almost daily connections, and the extensive road and rail network linking Bilbao to the rest of the Iberian Peninsula.
With this promotional activity, the Port of Bilbao community reaffirms its commitment as a key logistics partner for the United Kingdom, promoting multimodal logistics that not only reduces operating costs but also actively contributes to the decarbonization of European transport and the sustainability of international trade.
