Long An International Port reaffirms commitment to green and sustainable development

Long An International Port reaffirms commitment to green and sustainable development

(Posted on 10/07/25)

Long An International Port has successfully concluded its participation at ASEAN Ports & Logistics 2025, making a significant impression and reinforcing the port’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s strategic seaports and a partner for the global logistics community.

The event, hosted by PELINDO and supported by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Indonesia (CILT-ID), brought together more than 400 international delegates and visitors, along with over 50 major enterprises in the fields of port operations, transportation, and logistics.

The forum served as a platform to connect policymakers, investors, businesses, and experts to advance a modern, green, and sustainable logistics ecosystem—aligned with global strategies such as the 2015 Paris Agreement, the EU Green Deal, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During the event, Long An International Port undertook an in-depth technical visit to Pelindo Port, gaining insights into Indonesia’s advanced operational and management practices. As Indonesia continues to emerge as a pivotal hub within the ASEAN logistics network, the visit not only provided an opportunity to exchange and share expertise, but also established a foundation for strengthening bilateral cooperation and advancing sustainable port operations in line with international benchmarks.

Long An International Port was a speaker in Panel Session 2, titled ASEAN Port Developments - New Expansion Plans, Decarbonisation Strategies and Innovative Solutions. During the session, representatives of the Port, alongside industry leaders and experts from Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Indonesia, shared practical insights into the development of modern port infrastructure, the integration of advanced management systems, and the application of digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce logistics costs, and foster international collaboration.

The presentation particularly emphasised the vision of developing green ports and logistics, as well as the capacity to adapt to the continual disruptions of global supply chains through the implementation of CO? emission reduction initiatives. These efforts are designed to meet international environmental standards and align with global commitments toward achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. The discussion also underscored the importance of strengthening international cooperation, connecting regional supply chains, expanding service networks, and facilitating cross-border trade activities.

Over the three days of the event, representatives of Long An International Port participated in networking sessions, strategic discussions, and negotiations with a wide range of stakeholders, including major shipping companies, international logistics groups, port authorities, and trade promotion organizations. A spokesperson for the Port noted: “We regularly participate in domestic and international exhibitions and conferences, not only to foster connections between Vietnamese enterprises and global investors but also an important step in our Green Transformation - Smart Export strategy, a sustainable approach for businesses in general and for Long An International Port in particular. We believe that advancing green logistics is essential not only for protecting the environment but also for strengthening competitiveness, attracting investment, and accelerating integration into global supply chains.”
