Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH honoured again with EcoVadis gold medal

(Posted on 28/05/24)

Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH has once again achieved the gold medal, which is reserved for the top 5% of all companies assessed worldwide. With the new award, Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH has further strengthened its position by moving up from the top 2% to the top 1% of companies rated in its own industry. Significant improvements and initiatives in sustainability were implemented in 2023.

These include the introduction or expansion of ISO certifications in the areas of occupational safety and information security at Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH's four European sites and the definition of new quantitative targets in the Corporate Responsibility policy. New targets have been defined up to 2030, including certification to the highest standards for quality, occupational safety, energy, environment, and information security. "Being awarded the EcoVadis gold medal once again is a confirmation of our efforts to further improve in terms of sustainability and social responsibility," says Tatjana Grissemann-Peter, Manager Corporate Responsibility at Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH.

"We are proud of our progress and remain committed to developing innovative solutions to make a positive contribution to our society and the environment." As part of its commitment to the UN Global Compact, Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH has published an extended report in 2023 containing detailed information on governance, human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption.

Another milestone is the development of a greenhouse gas management and decarbonisation strategy by 2030, which is based on the identification of various CO2 reduction measures and the setting of corresponding targets. In the production plants, this includes converting the heating systems, electrifying the vehicle fleet, and using alternative fuels such as HVO for testing the cranes produced. For example, 95% of the electricity used at all four production plants is already generated from renewable energies

Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH, headquartered in Nenzing (Austria), is one of eleven divisional parent companies of the Liebherr Group. It coordinates all business activities in the field of crawler cranes and duty cycle crawler cranes, as well as piling and drilling rigsfrom the construction machinery sector. In addition, a wide range of maritime cranes is manufactured in Rostock, Killarney and Sunderland. Liebherr-MCCtec GmbH employs more than 5,500 people worldwide and has four European production sites in Nenzing (Austria), Rostock (Germany). Killarney (Ireland) and Sunderland (Great Britain). In addition, the company operates 49 sales and service companies around the globe.
