IBJ is sad to announce the news that Julia Peckham has passed away after a short illness. Julia, often described as the founding “Mother” of the Dry Bulk Terminals Group (DBTG) was also instrumental in launching International Bulk Journal in 1981 with her husband, Richard.
Highly regarded amongst her colleagues and members of the DBTG for her professionalism and knowledge, Julia will be missed most of all for the kindness she showered upon all who knew her.
Paul Goris, Executive Director of the DBTG said, “A legend has left us. Julia will always have a special place in our hearts. We wish Julia fair winds and following seas as she embarks on her final voyage.”
IBJ’s current publisher and owner, Ray Girvan said, “Along with Richard, all who have ever worked on IBJ since 1981 owe a special debt to Julia. Most importantly, she had a kind and generous spirit that everyone who met her will always remember. A beautiful soul.”
Rest in peace, Julia Peckham.
