Bilbao promotes port services for trade in agri bulk
(Posted on 12/09/24)
UniportBilbao and the Port Authority of Bilbao have again attended the Duero International Grain Exchange in Valladolid. Organised by ACCOE (Spanish Grain and Oilseed Trade Association) and Unistock of Spain (Spanish Association of Port Warehousekeepers of Grains, Cereals and their derivatives), the event promotes commercial and business relations between brokers, operators, companies and professionals working in the international trade of cereals, oilseeds, grains and their derivatives. The companies operating in the port of Bilbao play a key role as enablers of this foreign trade.
In Valladolid, the delegation from Bilbao will provide information on port services for trade in bulk agricultural, livestock, agro-energy and foodstuffs, all of which are essential for Spanish trade. More than 20% of imported cereals are consumed within a radius of 400 km from the port of Bilbao.
Around 3.4 million tonnes of agricultural, livestock and food products were handled in the maritime terminals of the port of Bilbao in 2023. In this respect, traffic in soya beans (one million tonnes) from the Bunge plant at the Punta Sollana quay, oils and fats (620,000 tonnes) and cereals and their flours (316,000 tonnes) are of particular relevance.
The companies of the Port of Bilbao not only offer specialised terminals and facilities for this type of products but all kinds of services linked to foreign trade, from customs clearance to chartering, freight certification and sanitary and phytosanitary controls.
In addition to the Port Authority of Bilbao, Uniport member companies who have confirmed their presence at the event to date include Bergé Marítima, Bunge, SGS Española de Control, Servicios Logísticos Portuarios, SLP and Suardíaz Logistics.
