Vancouver renders decision on Fraser Grain Terminal

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has approved a permit application from Fraser Grain Terminal to develop a grain export facility in Surrey on federal lands managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.
The approval is subject to 64 permit conditions that must be met to ensure the project is constructed safely, protects the environment, and considers the impacts on local communities.
The decision was made after a thorough, robust and transparent project and environmental review of the application. This included consultation with Aboriginal groups, the community and other stakeholders on the impacts of construction activities at the project site, such as noise, dust, and lighting, as well as proposed mitigations. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is responsible for the stewardship of the federal port lands in and around Vancouver, British Columbia. It is financially self-sufficient and accountable to the federal minister of transport and operates pursuant to the Canada Marine Act. The Port of Vancouver is Canada’s largest, and the third largest in North America by tonnes of cargo, facilitating trade between Canada and more than 170 world economies.
