Germany’s Steelpaint has appointed ADD Marine as its representative for Greece and Cyprus, strengthening the company’s position in two of the world’s most active shipping markets.
The agreement supports Steelpaint’s strategy to increase its presence in regions where vessel maintenance, drydock scheduling and long-term steel protection form a significant part of owners’ operational planning.
Greece is home to the world’s largest commercial fleet by tonnage, and Cyprus hosts a sizeable ship management cluster and a growing repair and retrofit sector, making both markets important for the delivery of proven marine corrosion-protection technologies.
ADD Marine works with shipowners, managers and yards across the region on maintenance, regulatory compliance and retrofit projects. The company provides practical support during drydock work, undertakes vessel condition assessments and advises on the introduction of new technical solutions. Its appointment will help customers access Steelpaint’s coating systems through a local point of contact.
Frank Müller, Steelpaint Director, said: “ADD Marine understands how shipowners and managers approach their ship repair and newbuild work, and that makes it the right partner to represent us as we expand our activities. The company’s long experience in supporting day-to-day operational decisions and long-term maintenance planning will give customers clear and reliable guidance on where our Stelpant and Stelcatec systems can be used to reduce steel loss and support environmental and cost efficiencies.”
Through the new agreement, ADD Marine will introduce the full Steelpaint portfolio, including the established Stelpant coatings and the more recently developed Stelcatec line.
The Stelpant range includes the well-established PU-Zinc primer, designed to be applied on damp steel, at temperatures down to -10°C, and in relative humidity up to 98%. It quickly becomes resistant to seawater and rain after application, allowing work to continue during variable weather conditions and helping reduce time in drydock.
The company’s recently introduced Stelcatec technology, meanwhile, offers a low VOC option for crew maintenance on board while retaining key application, curing and performance advantages to give owners and yards an additional route to long-term steel protection.
Andreas Angelidis, the co-founder of ADD Marine, said: “We are honoured to represent Steelpaint in the Greek and Cypriot markets. Serving the most demanding shipping communities requires partnerships with professionals that not only have proven capabilities but are flexible and adaptable to market requirements.”
Owners in this region manage large and diverse fleets, and the ability to carry out coating work efficiently and with greater weather flexibility is of real value. Steelpaint’s systems offer practical advantages that support everyday maintenance.
ADD Marine will work with its maritime customers to identify where Steelpaint coatings can help improve repair cycles and corrosion protection across different areas of the vessel.
ADD Marine founder Dimitris Koliaroudakis furthered: “It is a privilege for ADD Marine to enjoy the trust and support of Steelpaint, an established specialist dedicated in corrosion-protection coatings.”
The appointment is effective immediately, with ADD Marine serving as the contact point for product discussions, planning support and coordination with shipyards and maintenance teams in Greece and Cyprus. [ENDS]
