NGFA applauds reintroduction of HAULS Act

NGFA applauds reintroduction of HAULS Act

(Posted on 24/12/25)

The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) has applauded Senator Deb. Fischer’s (R-Neb.) reintroduction of the Haulers of Agriculture and Livestock Safety (HAULS) Act, legislation aimed at providing greater regulatory certainty and flexibility for those transporting agricultural commodities while maintaining strong federal safety standards.

The HAULS Act would improve current hours-of-service exemptions for agricultural haulers by clarifying agricultural commodity definitions, removing unnecessary seasonal limitations, and expanding existing exemptions to better reflect the realities of today’s agricultural supply chain. NGFA has long supported efforts to ensure regulations recognise the unique and time-sensitive nature of hauling grain, feed, and other agricultural products.

“Hauling grain and feed is time-critical, dependent on weather and market conditions, and needs to be done efficiently and safely,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “The HAULS Act goes a long way toward giving agricultural haulers the flexibility they need to do their jobs without compromising safety. This legislation will help keep the agricultural supply chain moving efficiently and reliably, from the farm gate to domestic and international markets.”

NGFA looks forward to continuing to work with Congress to advance policies that support a safe, efficient, and resilient agricultural transportation system and appreciates Senator Fischer’s leadership in reintroducing the HAULS Act.

Since 1896, NGFA has advanced the success of America’s grain, feed, processing, and export industry through advocacy, training, communication, and education. NGFA’s approximately 700 member companies span the agricultural supply chain, including country elevators, feed mills, exporters, merchandisers, futures brokers, end users, and allied industries that support the industry.
