The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) in the USA has applauded the House Agriculture Committee for advancing the farm bill following committee markup, calling the action an important step toward providing long-overdue certainty for U.S. agriculture.
NGFA commended Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-Pa.) and members of the committee for moving the legislation forward and urged the House to bring the bill to the floor as soon as possible.
“Advancing the farm bill out of committee is a critical step toward delivering the certainty farmers, grain handlers, and the broader agricultural supply chain urgently need,” said NGFA President and CEO Mike Seyfert. “Congress should build on this bipartisan momentum and move quickly to consider the legislation on the House floor.”
NGFA is particularly supportive of maintaining the current Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) cap and the increased funding for the Market Access Program (MAP) and other important trade programs, which play a key role in strengthening export opportunities and supporting the competitiveness of U.S. agriculture.
NGFA said it looks forward to continuing to work with lawmakers in both chambers as Congress advances the farm bill toward final passage.
Since 1896, NGFA has advanced the success of America’s grain, feed, processing, and export industry through advocacy, training, communication, and education. NGFA’s approximately 700 member companies span the agricultural supply chain, including country elevators, feed mills, exporters, merchandisers, futures brokers, end users, and allied industries that support the industry.
