Konecranes wins Yilport order

(Posted on 11/03/19)

In the first quarter of 2019, Turkey-based Yilport Holdings, the 12th biggest global container terminal and port operator, ordered four high-performance Model 8 mobile harbour cranes for two terminals in Latin America. Two of the large Konecranes Gottwald cranes will begin operation in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala, in mid-2019, followed by two cranes in Puerto Bolivar, Ecuador, just two months later.

Yilport’s four new eco-efficient diesel-electric Model 8 mobile harbour cranes from Konecranes will mainly handle containers in two terminals. They will help to develop terminal operations sustainably in Latin America, where Yilport started in 2016 with Puerto Bolivar and has since expanded both in Ecuador and most recently in terminal operations in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala.

Robert Yüksel Yildirim, Chairman and Owner of Yilport Holding, said: “Our aim is to become a leading player in selected countries in Latin America, which forms a key pillar in our global growth strategy. To provide customers with the best handling services at these logistic turnstiles and to meet the challenges of serving ever-larger container vessels, we have opted once again for high-performance Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour cranes from our most valued and dependable partner. We have been impressed time and again with the high handling rates and reliability of the cranes from Konecranes and attach great importance to eco-efficiency that these machines provide as part of our overall strategy.”

Andreas Moeller, Senior Sales Manager of Konecranes’ Business Unit Mobile Harbour Cranes, said: "We are proud that our long-term customer Yilport has chosen our cranes once again for their handling services outside Europe. The fact that Yilport ordered four large Model 8 cranes for their terminals in Latin America shows how customers can grow with our technology and broad offering according to their changing needs.”
