(Posted on 18/03/26)

AtoB@C Shipping, a subsidiary of ESL Shipping, has announced the successful delivery of Astramar, the tenth vessel in the series of 5,400 dwt plug?in hybrid newbuildings. The vessel was delivered on March 12 and will sail to Europe with a full load of windmill components.

ESL Shipping is the leading carrier of dry bulk cargoes in the Baltic region. AtoB@C Shipping is an innovative shortsea operator transporting bulk and breakbulk cargoes for industrial clients.

Built at Chowgule & Company, Astramar is part of AtoB@C Shipping’s next?generation hybrid coaster series designed for reliable and efficient operations across the Baltic and North Sea. The vessels in the series feature battery technology and shore?power connections enabling silent and emission-free port calls. Vessels have ice class 1A, ensuring year?round operations in northern conditions.

With versatile cargo-handling capabilities, the Green Coaster series strengthens AtoB@C Shipping’s ability to serve industrial clients with modern capacity across a broad range of bulk and project cargo segments.

AtoB@C Shipping has ordered twelve 5,400 dwt plug-in hybrid vessels from Chowgule & Company, and the remaining two vessels are currently under of construction. Megamar is scheduled to be delivered in the second quarter of 2026 and the last vessel of the series, Luxomar, in the third quarter of 2026.

ESL Shipping’s competitive edge is based on its ability to responsibly secure product and raw material transportation for industries and energy production all year round, even in difficult weather conditions. The shipping company loads and unloads large ocean liners at sea as a special service. ESL Shipping Ltd has been in business for over 75 years and is a subsidiary of Aspo Plc. The combined fleet of ESL Shipping and AtoB@C Shipping consists of around 40 vessels with cargo capacity ranging from 4,000 to 25,000 dwt.

AtoB@C Shipping’s success is based on operational excellence and long-term client contracts, which form the backbone of operations. They operate a fleet of modern, well-maintained, multipurpose vessels in 4,000-6,000 dwt segments. The whole fleet is ice-classed, ensuring ability to secure product and raw material transportation for our industrial clients all year round, even in difficult weather conditions. AtoB@C Shipping was founded in 2000 and has been part of ESL Shipping since 2018.
