PT Asian Bulk Logistics, one of the leading providers of integrated logistics and transportation solutions for the mining and commodities industry, has launched a programme to expand its network of operations in the Indonesian bulk shipping sector.
The Jakarta-based shipowner and operator is initially investing in Cargo Transfer Ships and barges to increase its service offering in the Indonesian coal sector; but eventually plans to develop a global bulk shipping fleet.
“We see many opportunities in the bulk shipping sector, our roots are in Indonesian coal mining, so it is natural for us to operate and manage our own Cargo Transfer Ships and expand our fleet of barges to better serve our customers in the local mining sector,” said Ika Bethari, President Director, Asian Bulk Logistics.
Captain Pappu Sastry, Deputy CEO of ABL said: “The company’s goals are to develop ship owning, logistics and shipping concepts. We will also provide logistics support by utilising our owned and chartered fleet of vessels within Indonesia.”
The company is laying the foundations to become a top-quality shipping and logistics player and has received a national long-term rating of ‘BBB (idn)’ from Fitch one of the largest credit rating agencies worldwide.
ABL also received its Health and Safety certification for BS: OHSAS 18001:2007, an international standard that helps organisations to implement a sound occupational health and safety management system, so they can reduce risks to personnel and put the right safety measures in place. ABL’s owned fleet is certified by classification societies RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) and BKI (Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia). ABL is also a member of the Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association (INSA)
